We're excited by this one as we welcome back to East London saxophone ace Davide Kayode and his very special Cousin Mary's band. Master saxman John Coltrane would have been 100 years old in September and we're proud to honour this auspicious occasion with another JAZZ EAST live jazz-in-the-community gig on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford, East London. With as share of the proceeds going to our fave charity, The National Jazz Archive and in keeping with the icon Coltrane has rightly become, we're VERY excited to present this live concert in partnership with another icon, The Arcelor Mittal Orbit, the inimitable 100m+ high all-steel sculpture, the worlds tallest helter-skelter and now probably the coolest venue in our great city! Donated to East London The Orbit is a key architectural landmark on the Olympic Park. Designed by world renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor, this breath-taking venue further solidifies the cultural legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has on occasions been likened to avant garde take on the saxophone; so it's only right we host a Coltrane gig here !
